ENTWINE

 SKILL SWAP

Learning is a lifelong experience, and everyone has something to teach as well as plenty to learn. Entwine Skill Swap is an environment where anyone can teach and everyone can learn. Workshops may be an hour or two, and can encompass practical skills, artistic skills, lifehacks, music, activism, movement -- and more -- depending on the attendees. You can request topics to be taught, or just run your workshop up the flagpole and see who salutes it.

Read more about what we're doing and check out the schedule -- but if you want to submit your own workshops or suggestions for workshops, you'll need to register first!

    What is a skill swap?
Everyone has a skill -- it might be something they do professionally or for fun; it might be something they just do and don't even think of as a skill. If you have a skill you think people would enjoy, consider giving an introduction or a full-blown workshop. Simple things might be able to be taught fully in an hour or less; more involved skills might take a 2-hour slot. The goal is not to walk away an expert, but everyone will learn something new. Perhaps you'll teach someone something that will open new doors for them in their life. Perhaps, a couple years down the road, you'll see them teaching their friends and you'll smile, knowing it was you that made that possible.
But you don't have to teach -- you can just come to learn. Even if you don't think you have a skill to teach, it's never too late to learn a new skill. Maybe you'll learn something that will enrich your life, save you money, or open your eyes. Maybe you'll learn something you'll want to follow up with and learn more. Maybe you'll make some new friends and, just maybe, you'll realize you do have a skill to teach. Well, there's an empty slot ... go ahead and add it!
    Who's organizing this?
Alasdair Post-Quinn and Amanda Marcus have been attending and/or helping to organize skillswap events for the better part of 20 years, and after visiting the Epic Skill Swap for a couple of years, they decided they'd try to do something similar in their own backyard. Having been involved in the Quaker community in Cambridge, they thought this would be a good way to enrich their community and possibly expose more people to some key Quaker principles such as peace, social justice and simplicity.
    Why should I register?
Registration allows us to plan for the number of people attending. Registrants will also need to sign a waiver in order to attend.
